Special Intelligence – Every Single Thing

Heart Jar

This past week I was required to complete five different assignments for my classroom management class. It was the first week of an eight week course. I spent just over half of my Saturday composing a journal article review and two discussion board responses.

My God considered this work.

For the last two weeks, my husband has been dealing with a health issue that resulted in surgery and then subsequent tests; and involved a lot of pain and lost sleep.

My God considered this situation.

On Friday, I spent almost seven hours in the Finetown and Vlakfontein communities outside of Johannesburg. I facilitated a workshop, listened to the heart’s cry of a woman who is suffering from a broken marriage as I drove her home, and then mediated between two Vlakfontein principals who did not respect one another and yet wanted the same thing.

My God considered these set of circumstances.

Today, our family is divided between two locations. John and Micah will spend the day at a swimming gala where Micah will be swimming four events. Jake, Caleb and I will remain home to play (that’s Jake and Caleb) and for me? I have my second week of studies to begin; three chapter readings, journal readings, and two papers to write. Of course, I will not do all of this today. However, I must start.

My God considered these daily happenings as well.

From heaven the LORD looks down and sees all mankind;

From his dwelling place he watches all who live on earth —

He who forms the hearts of all, who considers everything they do. Psalm 33:13-15 NIV

I have been camped on these verses all week. The phrase that has captured my interest and imagination is this one –

He who forms the hearts of all, who considers everything they do.

My God considers everything I do.

Consider comes from the Hebrew transliterated word, biyn. Biyn means to understand, to discern, to perceive, to regard with care and to have insight. My God has special intelligence about me.

What does that mean to me?

My God understands me.

My God discerns my motives.

My God perceives my decisions.

My God regards me with care.

My God has insight into my day, my week, my month and my year.

My God has special intelligence about the things I think, about the things I say and about the things I do.

The eyes of the LORD are on those who fear him, on those whose hope is in his unfailing love…. Psalm 33: 18 NIV

Isn’t this all amazing?

My God considers and understands me. And not just me, He considers and understands you too.

When I wrestle with my motives and analyze the reasons for my decisions, and beat myself up at times, these verses tell me that my God understands.

When I unexpectedly step into the middle of something—like I did in Vlakfontein—my God perceives the situation; and helps me maneuver through the complex dynamics with clear communication.

When I begin a new class and attempt to meet the instructor’s many expectations, and I start to freak out, my God regards me with tender care.

It’s like here we go again, God. Here’s something  I am starting or here’s something that I’m doing yet again. And still my God remains…with me…beside me…near me…watching over me and considers and understands everything I do. Every.Single.Thing.

Are there consequences to my decisions and actions?

Of course.

I must account for my actions.

Yet, my God is there. He is Jehovah Shammah. He is present at all times and aware of me. And because He is there, I can trust Him.

We wait in hope for the LORD; he is our help and our shield.

In him our hearts rejoice, for we trust in his holy name.

May your unfailing love rest upon us, O LORD,

even as we put our hope in you. Psalm 33:21-22 NIV

I find hope, help, joy, love and rest as I trust my God for every aspect of my life. My God has insight into my writing assignments, the Finetown workshops, parenting my children, caring and communicating with my husband, and showing me how to follow Him.

My God has special intelligence of my life in every possible way. I can rest in this hope and in the unfailing love and consideration of my God.

Thank you, Lord. Thank you for your consideration and understanding of me.
