She came rushing out of the Finetown hall and took hold of my hands. Tears welled in her eyes.
“Thank you,” she croaked.
“Things have been so hard, so difficult, so challenging,” she shared. I offered her a ride home so that I could hear more of her story. However, she could not come. She was needed inside to participate in the Finetown Forum discussions. She just wanted me to hear that her heart had been encouraged by the bible message that morning.
“I don’t just come for training. I come to hear more about God and receive encouragement,” she said as she walked back towards the hall where the rest of the Finetown area principals were continuing with their meeting.
At our second Finetown training of the year, the principals and teachers assembled to receive early childhood education training and hear the word of God. We never know what will exactly happen at our workshops or what the response will be. However, what we always pray will happen is that the workshop participants will encounter the Lord and experience the Presence of the Holy Spirit. We pray for their encouragement.
We pray that Paul’s words ring true from our time in Finetown, South Africa. “All over the world this gospel is bearing fruit and growing….” (New International Version, Colossians 1:6a).
That morning, we received word from not only this principal, but from others that their hearts had been ministered to and blessed by the teachings from Psalm 139 that affirm, “Lord, you know everything about me.” Sometimes we just need to hear that God knows.
Lord, you are here for me.
Lord, you are there for me.
Lord, you care for me.
Lord, you know what is happening right now in my life.
Lord, you understand me.
Lord, even if I have walked away from you, you know where I am.
Lord, you are completely familiar with me and my situation.
We all need to know this, don’t we?
No matter what is going on in our lives right now, God knows. God sees. God hears. God feels. God is not only here for us today, but He is there in the future for us too.
I wish you could have been in the Finetown hall with us yesterday as the principals sung, “His Banner over Me is Love” followed by “Jesus Loves Me.” In the middle of my workshop teaching, I have no time to film to capture moments like these, but let me just say that the way these principals sung the words ministered to every one in the room. The encouragement, love and care of the Holy Spirit poured out upon us all in a significant way. What a gift!
The longer I live, the more I am convinced that my core value and life message is to encourage others in their faith walk with Christ and experience His joy and peace. I had the special privilege of doing that yesterday. Having my principal friend, take hold of my hands and look into my eyes and say, “Thank you” helps me press on in that effort.
For all of you who support our family in ministry and prayer, thank you for contributing to days like this one. It is my honor to represent you and I remain grateful for the opportunity.
The story continues….I’ve promised my friend a visit to her school after Easter. In the meantime, please pray that her heart continues to hold fast to her God that knows, sees, hears, feels, and experiences her life situation with her. She is not alone, nor will she every be. May she be strengthened and comforted by our God who knows everything about her and loves her completely.
