God Knows Who His People Are

God Knows Who His People Are

In times of pain, confusion and upheaval, God knows who His people are!

When we struggle to hear His voice, God knows who His people are!

When we feel numb to His Presence, God knows who His people are!

When we ache with loneliness and struggle with abandonment, God knows who His people are!

When we are suffering with a life-debilitating disease, God knows who His people are!

When we experience failure, defeat, and loss, God knows who His people are!

When we allow our anxiety to suffocate us, God knows who His people are!

When our guilt and shame overwhelm us, God knows who His people are!

When we have been betrayed, God knows who His people are!

When the weight of our grief crushes us, God knows who His people are!

When we have lost control, God knows who His people are!

When we question our purpose and wonder who we are, even then God still knows who His people are!

When we feel dead, God knows who His people are!

These painful feelings and challenging experiences when matched with God’s truth, do not seem to align, do they? We don’t just want to be known in times of trouble. We want healing, resolution, and victory over and through such times. Don’t we?

There was a time, over 2000 years ago, I imagine that many followers of Jesus Christ felt the brutalizing pain, the shattering abandonment and deafening defeat of Jesus’ death.  There was nothing more final than laying Jesus to rest. Faint whisperings of His promised resurrection held a hint of hope. Yet, it may have still  been difficult for this band of followers to trust in such a miracle.

Yet, that is what we need to know in times of pain, isn’t it? That Jesus is able to overcome whatever is happening in our lives. We want to know that He sees what is happening to us. We want to know He is able to break the bondage of loneliness, guilt, shame, betrayal, loss of identity, failure and illness and help us begin again.  We do want to know that we are His people – that we are His! Just as the followers of Christ desired a miraculous intervention after His death, don’t we desire Jesus-sized miracles in our own death-like situations?

Jesus did not disappoint then and He does not disappoint now…

And when Jesus had cried out again in a loud voice, He gave up His spirit.

At that moment the curtain of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom. The earth shook and the rocks split. The tombs broke open and the bodies of the many saints who had died were raised to life. They came out of the tombs, and after Jesus’ resurrection they went into the holy city and appeared to many people. New International Version Matthew 27: 50-53

Wow!

Jesus died.

The earth shook.

The curtain tore.

The rocks split.

The tombs of the saints opened.

Jesus arose!

And then the saints of God – God’s people – the ones He knew – arose from their deathbeds and took to the streets!

Death was defeated. The power of sin was vanquished. The pathway to God was opened and grace was unbound!

We don’t talk much about of this particular part of the story because in all truth not much is really known.

What do we know?

The saints appeared to many in Jerusalem and showed these witnesses that the power of sin and death had been overcome. Miracles were literally afoot!

What an encouragement this can be to us who are caught up and feel bound by a difficult circumstance in life!

According to God’s timing and purpose, the situation in which you face will be shaken! Your worries, fears, and concerns that have served as a barrier to hope and freedom will split wide open by the resurrecting power of Jesus Christ! For some, a waiting period will occur – hours, days, weeks, months, and yes, perhaps years may pass – but the time will come for God’s glory to be revealed in your life for this particular need, concern, desire, and/or circumstance. And it is God alone who shall accomplish it in your life!

And then! And then! And then!

We receive Healing and New Life; God knows who His people are!

We develop Discernment to hear His voice; God knows who His people are!

We celebrate Joy in His Presence; God knows who His people are!

We rest in Contentment and peace; God knows who His people are!

We gain Health and Strength; God knows who His people are!

We experience Victory; God knows who His people are!

We gaze in Wonder; God knows who His people are!

We receive Grace and Revelation; God knows who His people are!

We ask for Forgiveness and Repentance; God knows who His people are!

We Delight in Christ’s love; God knows who His people are!

We seek His guidance and direction; God knows who His people are!

We know we are His children; God knows who His people are!

We are alive and free in Christ; God knows who His people are!

Our lives have been shaken. Our hearts have been split wide by the gift of grace. Our souls are free! We are unbound to share what Christ has done!

We are the children of God – He knows who His people are!
