Finally – This Piece of Paper is in my Hands!

My South Africa permanent resident permit arrived through a DHL courier this past week.

I surveyed this document in amazed and astounded silence.

A piece of paper that I, my family, my mission team, our mission supporters, our supporting churches, and so many others had prayed and prayed and prayed and prayed for was finally in my hands.

This is a piece of paper that allows me to rejoin my family in South Africa.

This is a piece of paper that enables me to continue to serve in ministry in southern Africa.

This is a piece of paper that validates my residence for as long as our family is asked to live and serve in South Africa.

This is a piece of paper that guarantees that our entire family no longer must gather documents, undergo medical tests, get police and FBI clearances, and fill out form upon form to reapply for residence every two to three years – tasks that we’ve been completing for the past 12+ years.

This is a piece of paper that offers more opportunity and more time to serve in southern Africa in full-time ministry to further the Kingdom of Christ and encourage others in their faith life – all for the glory and honor of our Lord Jesus Christ.

This piece of paper has been a long time coming. It’s here, and I am grateful.

Friends, this was no easy feat.

Believe me.

I do not understand why this residency permit took over 28 months to be issued – especially since my husband and children were issued their South Africa permits one and two years earlier.

What I do understand is that persistent, persistent, persistent prayer made a difference in securing that this permit finally came through – when I needed it most.

Throughout this time, I believed and trusted that the Lord’s care of me in this lengthy, lengthy, lengthy process would prove to be genuine and true.

I held to these promises with every ounce of my being:

I remain confident of this:
I will see the goodness of the Lord
in the land of the living.
Wait for the Lord;
be strong and take heart
and wait for the Lord.

New International Version, Psalm 27: 13 -14

Friends, you may never have need of a residence permit like me, but that doesn’t mean that you are not waiting for some other piece of paper, some other news, some other person, some other longing, some other opportunity or some other this-that-or-the-other-thing to materialize in your life. And you could be like me – you could be waiting and waiting and waiting.

May I encourage you?

Remain confident.

Seek the Lord and His goodness.

Hold fast.

Be strong.

Take heart.

Wait for the Lord.

Wait for Him to bring what you need – really need – to fruition. Because if it is the Lord’s will and purpose for your need to be fulfilled – it will be – for His honor, for His praise, and for His glory.

Hold on, Friends.

Hold on.

Hold on.

And one day, you’ll be standing in amazed and astounded silence like me. You’ll be thanking God and others – just like me!

Thank you so much for praying this piece of paper into my hands.

In a few weeks, I will be able to rejoin my husband in South Africa and I honestly can’t wait!

Your prayers helped make this all happen!
